The University of Washington Wind Ensemble has returned from a successful concert tour of Beijing. The ensemble gave six public performances across the capitol. This was an amazing opportunity for students in both countries, providing the chance for collaboration and cultural exploration through music.

Our student musicians and educators showcased the talents and skills that are represented by students at the UW, School of Music and choice of repertoire  by American composers well received by Chinese audiences. The sold-out performance at the National Centre for the Performing Arts is going to be broadcast in its entirety on Chinese national television. This is a great moment for the University of Washington and our students!

Timothy Salzman, conductor of the group and Director of Bands at the University of Washington said about the Ensemble “I just can’t emphasize this enough — our students were incredible in every way. The best student group I’ve ever had the opportunity to travel with in my 35 years of teaching. They jumped into every cross-cultural opportunity with enthusiasm and represented our university and our country in a manner that would have made you very proud.”
